Psalm 118 was penned by David in thanking God for His blessings in David’s daily life and the future blessings of life in Jesus Christ. In the preceding verses leading into 24 David states that “ the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone”. Living in the future of these writings it is clearer for us to see the fulfilment of that statement in Jesus life, ministry, rejection, crucifixion and resurrection. His resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith and puts us in perspective that each day is a blessing from God. David is also inviting his friends and others to join his rejoicing and thankfulness to God for His blessings in their lives. Some days in our lives are better than others yet to rejoice and be glad is a matter of choice for us. How we see each day can be far more valuable to us than the circumstances that affect us in a day. We have the choice to acknowledge God as our creator and cornerstone and also to share that with others along our way in each day.
